Amritsari Fish Fry

Punjabi dishes are rich in flavor/taste e.g. bhature chole, sarson ka saag, makki ki roti, kormas, rajma, parathas so on. Many more meat items like Crispy Amritsari Fish Fry. Punjab is a landlocked region, freshwater not marine fish forms as an important part of the cuisine. Carp catfish are the most commonly prepared fish in Punjab region. Other fishes including thela fish and recently shrimp have been introduced. It’s an Amritsar specialty. Most of the Indians likes the spicy food and Fish meat is one of them.

Ingredients

  • 2 pound Boneless fish
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoon Ajwain (Carom Seeds)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon Malt vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Chickpeas flour (gram flour or besan)
  • 1 teaspoon Salt (as per your taste)
  • 1 ½ teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • ½ Asafetida (hing)
  • 2 cup Hung curd
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • ½ teaspoon Chaat masala
  • 4 cup Vegetable oil
  • 1 teaspoon Rice flour (optional)

Amritsari Fish Fry

Marinating Process

Firsty take a bowl to add fish to washed well before use. Cut it into small pieces to marinate it. We will add red chili powder, half teaspoon ginger garlic paste, lemon juice, and asafetida, add salt to taste and vinegar for marinating process. Keep it on the side for half an hour. Now we will make a batter with gram flour, ginger garlic paste, lemon juice and add salt to it, Ajwain, color (optional), and hung curd to mix it with blender. Make sure it does not become thicker, we need lumps free mixture. Put it aside to get the texture to make delicious amritsari fish fry.

Method of Preparation

Step 1  Take a fish which is marinated before and mixes all the spices.

Step 2  Cover the bowl with cling wrap or any other cover or a plate whatever you have and place it in the fridge for 20 minutes.

Step 3  Heat oil in pan with normal flame until it cooks properly.

Step 4  Now our fish become ready to get out of the fridge and now put one by one piece according to size lower the flame from medium to fish fry till it got crispy golden color. Cook fish from both sides.

Step 5  Our delicious recipe crispy Amritsari fish fry is now ready to eat but before that we will sprinkle some chaat masala on it and serve with mint chutney, spring onion salad and squeeze little bit of lemon wedges juice to taste.
